Cornwall Hall, The Drive, Sevenoaks
Every week until spring with a 2 week break at Christmas
Arrive at 7:30pm to set your bike up. Session starts at 7:45pm.
Bring your own turbo, bike, mat/towel, Garmin or similar, dress to keep cool (turbo is hot work).
These are run by club cycle coach, Paul Butler.
If you need to borrow a club turbo contact Martin Brown.
These are great winter training sessions when it's cold and dark outside!
The moment the front wheels crossed the border into Wales on Friday night, the precipitation tested the effectiveness of windscreen wipers. Fortunately we had ignored Sally's suggestion of camping and opted for the luxury B&B! The advance party (Baz, Al & Andy) had time to sample the Dolgellau curry house, washed down with a couple of pints. It rained all night and the following morning when we reluctantly set out to locate and navigate Charlie's eagerly anticipated natural 'Saturday route'!
Martin Brown smashed his PB on the B50/18 course up in Norfolk recording a time of 1:54:17 and finishing 13th out of over 70 riders in the provisional results. What a way to celebrate your birthday!
Report by Georgie Butler:
Last Sunday, beneath an entirely and somewhat ominous grey sky, five of us made the relatively short trek to Crawley's K2 centre for the Crawley Tri Club's Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlons.

Olly and I decided at the last minute to grab this friendly end of season event set in the grounds of Ashburton estate. In Olly's case is was really last minute with him sauntering up to registration 15 minutes after it was due to close but he worked his charm.

3 of us were racing today at Bodiam Castle triathlon. Gorgeous morning in a charming setting. Swim got underway but low lying sun caused sighting problems in the moat followed by a rolling bike course with a few testing climbs but ridable with full tri/TT set up but glad to have previously reccied the course and then the run was flat with hard packed trails for the first half and leg sapping grass for the second half in scenic Rother valley.

The club cycling trip to Spain now has 15 confirmed attendees. The dates have reverted to the original 19-24 April 2017. The hotel is huge and near a beach. The cycling routes look wonderful. Flights via Easyjet to Alicante are not bookable yet but we will advise when they are. All details here.
The ever popular club hill climb will be held on 15/10 at 0830. Please park by the cafe in the S bend at the top to sign on, not near the start. Sign on will be 0745-0815. Then you will roll down the hill to the start. Please do not arrive at the bottom of Ide Hill at 0830 and expect to be able to sign on. Once you have finished, please make sure you take a safe position off the road. This is not an official event and you are responsible for your own safety.
What a great event to finish the season.
Whilst we surrendered the Inter Club Trophy to GS Avanti on the day, our teams rode very strongly with the ladies team winning their category and the mens coming 3rd overall.
Photos and videos are on the Facebook cycling now.
There were no changes to first and second places in the Club Competitions. Third place was hotly contested in both the mens and womens categories.
Men. Sam Begg won overall with 58 points, Chris Hansen 2nd with 54. Andy Evans held on to 3rd with 53 points 2 points ahead of Sam Bennett.
Well what a finale to a summer of great club sprint races!
All south east triathlon clubs will see that for a relatively small town in Kent, 7oaks tri club punches well above its weight:
There were some really strong performances in the last 5km handicap race in the park this summer. Gabi, Georgie and Adam all ran Personal Bests for this course. Since May, Georgie has improved by over 2 minutes, Adam by more than a minute.
New member Rob ran a blistering 18:37 not quite overtaking the whole field. Sam B, you have competition! Everyone finished within 90 seconds, which shows they all ran very near their best.
7oaks tri club fielded 8 teams for the popular southwater relays on Sunday 4th September. The conditions were good and there was a great atmosphere with around 120 teams from south east clubs and their supporters. There were lots of opportunities to cheer competitors on.
Two sets of results. Last week's Hilly 21 GS 311 and today's Tonbridge Q10/19.
Neil Harris has been on blistering form and scored a big double over his brother (Jonathan). First at the Hilly 21 he took his course record and then today won on the super fast Tonbridge course in an eye watering 19:51. That's an average of over 30mph!!!
The fourth round of the competition was Redhill triathlon on 21st August. We didn't have any 7oaks members taking part but Epsom and Tri-Surrey had a large presence for the Surrey race. Tri-Surrey had a huge team of 39 members which means that they will probably now win the 'Mob' competition.
For the female standings, Epsom have now had two wins which means that they need another win at southwater to beat 7oaks. 7oaks are 3rd behind Epsom and Tri-Surrey in the male standings. Here's how the table stands:
The 4-up is on the morning at Brands - the rest of the weekend there is the Revolve24 endurance event.
It's a spectacular event. The 24-hour event has many possibilities for teams, and the 6 hour on the Sunday is open to solo riders and pairs.
Jason Kenny will be taking part in the 24 hour event in a team of 4 - great chance to meet our Olympic hero!
Unfortunately this afternoon's TT at Grain has had to be cancelled due to heavy rain and forecast very high winds (40mph+).
The traditional end of season 4 Up Time Trial in the Inter Club TT competition will this year be held at Brands Hatch racing circuit on closed roads. We will have use of the circuit and the pit lane from 8.00am to 10.00am for the race.
This is a unique opportunity which is unlikely to be repeated. If you have never ridden in a team time trial, it is a fabulous experience. It feels like you could be in the GB Team Pursuit, although most of us are going quite a bit slower!
